MAPS TESTING

Our class will start the Spring MAPS testing this week. We will be taking them on Tuesday, April 29th and Friday, May 2nd in the morning and Thursday, May 1st in the afternoon. Please make sure they get a good night sleep the day before and have them eat a good breakfast. It can make such a huge difference in their testing ability.

WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!

As you can tell from the district calendar, the next seven weeks are going to go quickly. A quick overview of  what we will be focusing on for this quarter are as follows:

1) Math:Geometry-identifying angles and lines, classifying two-dimensional figures by properties, understanding lines of symmetry, parallel/perpendicular lines, and identifying types of triangles by length of sides and angles.

2) Reading/ Writing:
      2a)Literature in Guided Reading-Compare/contrast the elements of drama, prose, poetry, and informational text. Continue to build vocabulary and spelling), and writing an opinion(editorial) article that has a quick summary and then uses details form the story to back their opinion of the book. Also work on fluency and duration of reading.

      2b) Science-Finishing up human body unit with an informational piece about their area of concentration. Then move into renewable energy using to research, analyze, and reflect on what they found out in written and oral forms. Also, continue to work on developing extended time frames for doing these skills.
